Prayer

Prayer is the most important conversation you have each day.  But it’s more than that; it is the most important activity in life.  Imagine if you knew the richest, most powerful, most wise person in the universe and that this person had given you their personal mobile phone number and said to you, “Call me anytime of the day or night.  I am interested in all you are doing and so don’t be a stranger. By the way, I am always with you and I love you.”

Jesus said, “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.  For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened” (Matthew 7:7, 8)

Why Should I Pray?

Prayer will help you to develop your relationship with God.  If you never spoke to your spouse or best friend or never listen to anything they might say your relationship would quickly deteriorate.  It is the same way with God.  Prayer, which is communicating with God, helps us connect with God and grow closer to him.

Do I need to use beautiful poetic words?

Jesus had a good answer to that.  He said, "When you pray, don't babble on and on as people of other religions do. They think their prayers are answered only by repeating their words again and again" (Matthew 6:7).
